In other words, what planet are we willing to leave behind for the people who come after us?<\/p><p>\u201cWe have 17 Sustainable Development Goals and scientists and policymakers around the world work tirelessly to figure out how to realize them by 2030. At the same time, we know little about the fundamental question of how to cooperate with the future. That\u2019s why artists and scientists are now joining forces,\u201d says Gloria Benedikt, who leads the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iiasa.ac.at\/web\/home\/about\/scarts\/Science-and-Arts.html\" target=\"_blank\">Science and Art<\/a>&nbsp;Project at IIASA.<\/p><p>\u201cGiven that future generations are unable to unable to respond to the current generation, it seems that conventional mechanisms for cooperation cannot be utilized to solve this critical problem,\u201d says&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iiasa.ac.at\/web\/home\/about\/alumni\/News\/171123-nowak.html\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Nowak<\/a>, professor of mathematics and of biology at&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harvard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Harvard University<\/a>. \u201cBut we have evidence that a large majority of people would vote for cooperating with the future if the vote was global and binding.&nbsp;The production takes this evidence as a starting point. A stage game, designed by IIASA research scholar,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iiasa.ac.at\/web\/home\/research\/researchPrograms\/water\/staff\/Magnuszewski.html\" target=\"_blank\">Piotr Magnuszewski<\/a>, will invite the audience to participate in order to find out whether it has the capacity to leave enough resources behind for future generations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDancing with the Future\u201d&nbsp;premiered at Harvard University\u2019s&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ofa.fas.harvard.edu\/farkas-hall\" target=\"_blank\">Farkas Hall<\/a>&nbsp;on 25 September 2018 and was&nbsp;subsequently&nbsp;presented at the<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/ic-sd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">&nbsp;International Conference on Sustainable Development<\/a>, during the United Nations General Assembly, on 27 September in New York and the Sustainable Brands Conference in Detroit.&nbsp;The New York performance was live-streamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li
